In 2007, Timor-Leste held two elections: the first and second round of the presidential election and the parliamentary election. Jose Ramos Horta was elected as president of the country and a few months later the Frente Revolucionária de Timor-Leste Independente (FRETILIN) politcal party won the majority of votes.
However, since no single party had a majority of seats in the Parliament, the President invited the AMP (Aliansi Mayoria Parlementar), which was formed by the former president Xanana Gusmao together with other small parties following the parliamentarian election results, to establish the government. Xanana became the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste and FRETILIN became the largest opposition party in the parliament. These photograph depicts those elections.
